Attachments

Every Battlefield 6 gun takes attachments in up to nine slots, paid for from a budget of attachment points that tops out at 100, so a build trades one strong part for several cheap ones. Attachments unlock with the gun's Hardware rank, about 50% faster since mid-2026, and every season has added a few.

Every Battlefield 6 gun has a budget of attachment points, and each attachment costs some of them: EA's loadout page says a weapon can take "a combination of attachments up to a certain threshold", and that threshold is 100 points (Shacknews, Oct 10, 2025), so four 30-point parts will not fit. Attachments unlock as you rank up the gun itself, a pace EA has sped up three times since launch, and each season has added new ones, from the SU-230 LPVO in Season 1 to the Hybrid Suppressors of Season 4. This page covers the system and the history; which parts to put on which gun is on Best Loadouts and the category pages.

Quick facts

Budget 100 attachment points per weapon
Slots Optic, muzzle, barrel, underbarrel, magazine, ammunition, left and right accessory, ergonomics
Unlocked by The gun's Hardware rank (Hardware XP from using it)
Unlock speed First 20 ranks about twice as fast (Oct 17, 2025); about 50% faster overall (EA, Jul 15, 2026)
Presets Weapon Packages: themed attachment sets, two per gun plus a gilded one at Hardware Level 50
Next changes Buffs to the Flared Magwell, Frangible Ammo and other underused parts; handling penalties on SCW-10 and KV9 extended magazines (Nov 10, 2026)

The 100-point budget

Each attachment has a point cost, and the gun's total may not pass 100. Strong parts cost more: EA's own notes show a 200-round belt for the L110 and M123K at 55 points until Update 1.1.3.0 cut it to 50 (Dec 5, 2025), half a gun's budget for one magazine, and the Season 4 4" Shotgun Barrel Extension at 5 points instead of the usual 10. EA has published no full list of costs; the in-game Customize screen shows each part's price and the points left. Prices also differ by gun: in Enders' Oct 16, 2026 guide, hollow-point ammunition costs only 5 points on the new Mk 24, which he expected at 15 or 20, and raises its headshot multiplier to 1.8x. EA said on Oct 21, 2026 that expensive parts are "usually offset by strong benefits", but some cost too much to be used, and "targeted adjustments for those attachments are on the table".

The budget is why builds look alike. Enders, in his Nov 10, 2025 attachment guide, could not fit the M123K's 200-round belt, then 55 points, into any build he found viable, "which is tragic". A heavy part in one slot leaves only cheap ones elsewhere. We think the useful habit is to price a build from its one must-have part down, as the creators on Best Loadouts do, rather than filling slots in order.

Slots and what they do

Builds shown by press list these slots: optic, muzzle, barrel, underbarrel, magazine, ammunition, and left and right accessories (lasers and lights), plus ergonomics such as triggers and mag catches. PC Gamer's M4A1 build is a typical full set: Double-Port Brake, 14.5" Carbine barrel, Alloy Vertical grip and a 36-round magazine.

A few rules matter more than the stat bars, and the first is the muzzle. In Enders' Nov 10, 2025 test, firing with no suppressor or flash hider (any muzzle brake included) put you on every enemy's minimap and a red marker over your head for enemies within 75 m; a flash hider removed the marker but not the minimap dot; a suppressor removed the marker and showed you on the minimap only within 15 m. Update 1.2.1.0 then cut that in-world spotting range from 75 m to 54 m (EA, Feb 13, 2026).

zen3D, in his Oct 18, 2026 Season 5 attachment guide, still calls this "3D spotting" the single worst attachment penalty in the game and will not use the muzzles that cause it, however much they cut recoil.

Ammunition changes ballistics: since Update 1.3.3.0 (Jun 30, 2026) every bullet carries 40% more drag, and Match Grade ammunition 100% more. Assault can mount a grenade launcher under the barrel with the Gadget Mount (EA, Assault, Apr 9, 2026). The Actuated Module will not get recoil or faster-aim versions: EA's answer on Oct 21, 2026 was "No, not at this time."

To see what a part really does, EA points to the Firing Range in the Loadout screen, which shows each hit's damage at several distances, and the ADS Dispersion Crosshair option, which draws bullet spread while aiming (EA, Oct 21, 2026).

What creators recommend, slot by slot

zen3D's Season 5 picks (Oct 18, 2026) start with barrels: the heavy extended barrel is "a must" for mid- and long-range builds and his favorite, the cryogenic barrel adds aiming speed and accuracy, and the light or short barrel suits close-range spraying. A 5-point extended barrel is his budget pick when points are tight.

For muzzles he names the flash compensator, long suppressor and Hybrid L. The three Hybrid Suppressors, added in Season 4, give the same improvements, and each more expensive one removes a penalty: "you're paying more for less penalties."

Lasers in his test work as a simple system: red and green lasers help hip fire only, the violet laser helps aimed accuracy only, and the blue lasers combine the two, the 20-point blue equal to a 10-point green plus a 10-point violet. Apart from DMRs and snipers, he calls a laser "pretty much a must-use attachment". Enders found the blue lasers did nothing for aimed accuracy at launch (Nov 10, 2025), so check them in the firing range.

His best value is the 5-point Tac Light Aimed, which he says blinds enemies so well it "really should be worth 10 or 15 points", for aggressive rifles, carbines and SMGs.

Ammunition matters less than people think, both creators say, with exceptions. Enders measured Frangible ammunition delaying the target's health regeneration to 9 seconds, little use in multiplayer but strong in REDSEC, and found hollow points matter only where they change a damage break point. The clearest case is the M44 revolver, where hollow points stretched its one-shot headshot range from 5 m to 20 m in his test. EA's Nov 10, 2026 buffs to Frangible Ammo may change that verdict.

How to customize a gun

The path is Loadouts, then the class, the weapon slot, the category and the gun. Modify shows its skins and Weapon Packages; Customize adds attachments, camos, a charm and stickers (Shacknews, Oct 10, 2025). A Weapon Package is the gun with a themed set of attachments already fitted. A gun usually has two, and Hardware Level 50 gives a gilded one; others come from challenges, the battle pass, bonus paths, store bundles and events (EA). A package's own camo overrides a universal camo, so EA advises putting unlocked camos on base guns.

Unlocking attachments

Attachments unlock with the gun's Hardware rank, earned by using that gun; ranks 10 to 50 also give Bronze to Elite badges (EA, progression, Apr 14, 2026). WhosImmortal says in his Oct 15, 2026 builds that most go-to attachments unlock by weapon level 20 to 30. The pace has been raised several times:

Date Change Source
Oct 17, 2025 XP for the first 20 attachment ranks cut, "almost twice as fast" Wccftech
Feb 17, 2026 Lower Hardware XP requirements; sidearms ranked by time used EA, progression
Apr 14, 2026 Weapon XP also earned through active use (1.2.3.0) EA, 1.2.3.0
Jul 15, 2026 EA: attachment unlocks about 50% faster than at launch EA

More on XP is on Progression and Unlocks.

What changes on Nov 10, 2026

EA's Nov 2, 2026 community update lists the attachment changes coming with Season 5 Phase 2: extended magazines on the SCW-10 and KV9 get handling penalties, "so players must choose between sustained fire and agility"; underused muzzle and magazine parts, the Flared Magwell and Frangible Ammo among them, get buffs; new magazine sizes and feeds come to some LMGs and shotguns; and custom optics for the M44 revolver are being tested. EA named no numbers before the update notes. Update 2.1.1.0 had already fixed the SU-230 LPVO reducing visual recoil on six guns where it should not.

We think the extended-magazine change will reshape more loadouts than any new gun this season: EA singles out "high pick-rate configurations", and the 10mm SCW-10 with a big magazine is the build creators have leaned on in close quarters since launch. Check Best Loadouts after Nov 10.

Frequently asked questions

How many attachment points does a gun have?

Up to 100. Each part costs points, and the build cannot pass the total.

How do I unlock attachments faster?

Use the gun: attachments come from its Hardware rank, and since Apr 2026 active use also earns weapon XP. Double XP events and Hardware XP boosts from the battle pass help.

What does a suppressor do in Battlefield 6?

Besides its stat changes, it keeps you off the enemy's map: unsuppressed fire spots you within 54 m since Feb 2026.

What is a Weapon Package?

A version of a gun with a themed set of attachments and cosmetics already fitted, unlocked by rank, challenges, the battle pass, events or bought in bundles.

What is the ADS Dispersion Crosshair?

An option added in Season 5 that shows your bullet spread while you aim down sights, so you can see what an attachment does to it.
