Dagger 13 and Characters

Dagger 13 is the US Marine Raider squad of Battlefield 6's campaign: Haz Carter (Assault), Dylan Murphy (Engineer), Simone "Gecko" Espina (Recon) and Cliff Lopez (Support), with CIA operator Lucas Hemlock. This page covers them and the other characters, Mills, Kincaid, Al-Khatib and President Fernandez.

Dagger 13 is the four-person US Marine Raider squad you play in Battlefield 6's campaign, each member built on one of the multiplayer classes, plus a CIA operator who joins them in the field. EA introduced them on its single-player campaign page (Oct 10, 2025) as a unit sent "to flashpoints around the world" to stabilize NATO. IGN's reviewer was not won over: he called the name "unfittingly sharp" for "a fairly cookie-cutter military unit" with few memorable character moments. This page gives each character's official biography and what the story does with them. The plot itself is on Campaign Story and Ending.

Spoiler note: the biographies come from EA and give nothing away. The "In the story" lines and the sections on Mills and Kincaid reveal deaths and the ending.

Biographies and classes: EA, Oct 10, 2025. Fates: GameRant; MKIceAndFire's run, Oct 10, 2025.

Haz Carter

EA's biography: a former high school quarterback who joined the Marine Raiders, the squad's Assault and its leader. In the story he is the one with history: he and Kincaid served together, and the villain's grudge goes back to a battlefield where Carter left him behind.

Carter's own version comes out on a Cairo street in Night Raid, in MKIceAndFire's run. Asked whether he left Kincaid behind, he answers that Kincaid "knew the risks and I had my own team to save", and that sometimes "there are no good options".

Spoiler: Carter stops most of the Artemis missiles in No Sleep, and Kincaid kills him with a knife at the end of Moving Mountains. In the frame scenes the squad defends him to Mills as "the hero of Brooklyn".

Dylan Murphy

EA describes Murphy as "a warfighter who chose the frontlines over an officer's career", the squad's Engineer. He is the player character in the prologue at the NATO base in Georgia, and the one most of the campaign is played through.

His introduction is the campaign's grimmest scene. With the evac helicopter down and Pax closing in, his unit decides to make a stand ("Unconquerable spirit. They gave us that motto for a reason"), and in MKIceAndFire's run Murphy is the only one left when help arrives. The first trophy is named for it: Stand Alone.

Spoiler: After Carter dies, the squad looks to Murphy, and by the last mission they call him "boss". In the epilogue he is the one who receives the order about Mills.

Simone "Gecko" Espina

EA's biography: raised hunting on her grandfather's farm, a Special Forces Operator, the newest member and the Recon. You play as her in The Rock and Operation Ember Strike, the two missions built around sniping and drone scouting.

Her squad ability is the strongest in the game: she tags every enemy in an area at once, which IGN said makes some fights "ridiculously easy" ("Gecko, need your eyes ahead." "Got six targets in my sight.").

She is also the squad's sharpest voice with Mills. "You put me on the team cuz I'm a hunter," she tells the handler in the frame scene, and she closes the game with its last line, that the worst is still to come.

Cliff Lopez

EA's biography: he rejected his parents' wish that he go to medical school, and became the squad's Support, its medic. He carries the Salim intel out of Cairo after being wounded in the helicopter fight, in MKIceAndFire's run. He gets the least of the story of the four.

Lucas Hemlock

EA describes him as a CIA operator with a largely redacted past, and gives him no class. He supplies the guided mortar in Operation Ember Strike (Shacknews) and is the one Mills cannot reach in the frame scenes.

After Carter's death he goes into the field with the squad. "I'm not replacing Carter," he tells them in MKIceAndFire's run, "I'm here because I can help with disarming the missiles", to which a squadmate replies that he is as crazy as Kincaid.

Spoiler: Hemlock shoots Kincaid in the bunker as Kincaid reaches for his knife (GameRant). Mills tells the squad in the epilogue to ask Hemlock whether the CIA created Pax: "He knows."

Melissa Mills

The squad's handler. EA's story material calls her "Director Melissa Mills of the CIA's SAC". She briefs every mission and speaks in the frame scenes at her house.

Her relationship with the squad runs on trust she does not return. "What happened to trust me like I trust you?" the squad asks her about Cairo, where she sent them knowing an Egyptian civil war was close and that Salim was selling intelligence to Pax.

Spoiler: She helped build Pax with the CIA, ordered the bunker bombed with Dagger 13 inside, and is killed at her home in the epilogue. Her defense is on Campaign Story and Ending.

Alexander Kincaid

The Pax Armata commander and the face of the private army: a former British SAS soldier who armed Pax with NXC, an explosive nano-compound (GameRant). He is on screen far less than the squad: most of what you learn about him comes in two conversations with Carter.

Spoiler: His motive is revenge. In MKIceAndFire's run he tells Carter, dying at his feet, that men laughed as they threw acid over him after he was left behind, and that "the man you left behind goes on. That's justice."

The rest of the faction he leads is on Pax Armata.

Ibrahim Al-Khatib

The officer of Egypt's Special Missions Unit 777 who guides Dagger 13 through Cairo in Night Raid. He has been to the city "plenty" but never seen it like this; since Pax became Egypt's ally, he says, it has run the army and his people have had Pax's "boots on their throat". In Nile Guard you play as him, commanding the tank column that retakes Cairo, with Captain Yasta at his side (Shacknews).

President Fernandez

The US president. He holds a NATO summit in New York despite Dagger 13's warnings, survives Pax's attack on his motorcade with the squad's help and the head of his protective detail, John Rossetti, and then announces the NATO Global Response Force (GameRant; MKIceAndFire's run).

Who voices the characters?

EA has not published a cast list for the campaign, as of Nov 8, 2026, and we found no official or major press source that credits the actors. Fan-run credit sites and roundups name actors for several roles, but we have not been able to confirm them against EA or the game's credits, so we leave them out until a reliable source does. IGN's reviewer, for what it is worth, found the performances "wholly forgettable".

Our view of the cast

We think Gecko is the campaign's best character and the obvious lead for any sequel: she has the clearest voice, the most useful ability and the last word. We think the squad's real problem is the one IGN names, that the four play the same; the class abilities exist, but only Gecko's changes how a fight goes. We think the next campaign should give each of the four a mission built around their class, as The Rock and Ember Strike are around Gecko's, rather than the shared corridor fights of most of this one. More of our calls are on Predictions.
