Battlefield 6 is Battlefield Studios' and Electronic Arts' modern all-out warfare shooter, out Oct 10, 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with the free-to-play battle royale REDSEC since Oct 28, 2025 and a new season every few months. This viki covers Season 5 and every season before it, all the maps and modes, the four classes and their gadgets, every weapon, attachment and vehicle, destruction, progression and the battle pass, the nine-mission campaign against Pax Armata, REDSEC and Gauntlet, settings and performance, the Steam player count with Vi.ki's own analysis, reception and sales, and every key paragraph plays the moment on YouTube that shows it.

Battlefield 6 is a first-person military shooter by Battlefield Studios and Electronic Arts, released on Oct 10, 2025 at 15:00 UTC on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, where squads of four fight in battles of up to 64 players with tanks, helicopters, jets and buildings that come down. IGN's multiplayer review called the gunplay "the anchor of the whole experience": guns are accurate but have bullet travel and drop, and the recoil is modest enough that newcomers can land shots. As of Nov 8, 2026 the game is in Season 5, Siege of Vegas, the start of its second year, and its free battle royale REDSEC runs beside it.

What kind of game is Battlefield 6?

Battlefield 6 is "all-out warfare": infantry, vehicles and aircraft fighting over the same ground at once. IGN describes it in layers. On foot, the classes trade fire around objectives; on the large maps, tanks become "a focal point of every fight" as buildings explode around them, and the answer to a tank might be your own tank or a switch to Engineer for rockets; above it all, Jets and Helicopters can flatten ground forces. Each layer is learned on its own and they meet in the same match. Destruction is part of the tactics: walls, floors and whole houses can be brought down to open routes or take away cover.

It is a deliberate return to the classic formula after Battlefield 2042. Digital Foundry noted that the hero-based specialists and 128-player matches were dropped, set-piece gimmicks like Levolution and Behemoths were gone at launch, and the modern military setting is back, with smaller additions such as the Assault class's ladder and sledgehammer. In DF's words it "relies more on excellent execution than innovative ideas", and resembles Battlefield 3 most of all. Battlefield Series traces where it sits among the earlier games.

What is new in Season 5?

Season 5, "Siege of Vegas", began on Oct 13, 2026 with Game Update 2.1.1.0 and is the first season of Year 2. Its first phase brought two maps at once, Vegas Strip and Area 51, four guns (the Mk 24 assault rifle, the RSPR, the Z84M belt-fed LMG and the ELR-40 sniper rifle), Rapid Royale and a new Ranked season in REDSEC, and the Battlefield x Dead Space crossover event. Enders, a daily Battlefield streamer, said the phase "looks to be pretty content-rich" while arguing that content alone will not fix the game's balance.

Phase 2, Casino Heist, starts on Nov 10, 2026: the infantry-only European Casino map with a central tower over 120 meters tall that can be brought down, the NSW4 Carbine, the ADS-17 6GHz Signal Jammer gadget, the M142 MRAS rocket truck and the Casino Heist event, whose Contracts pay a currency called DOUGH. The long-requested server browser moved up from Phase 3 and rolls out in stages "shortly after" Nov 10, according to EA's Nov 3 community update; see Portal and Server Browser.

Phase 3, Frozen Aces, follows on Dec 8, 2026 with Operation High Roller and reworked Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City. Two of its headline items will not make it: on Nov 6, 2026 the official Battlefield account said Platoons and the B-81 Cavalry bomber "do not meet our internal quality standards" and moved them to 2027, Kotaku reported. EA has given no end date for Season 5; Season 6 and a 2027 roadmap are promised "early in the new year" (Roadmap and Season 6). Every earlier season is on Seasons.

Modes, maps and classes

The big 64-player modes are Conquest, where both teams fight over shared capture points, and Breakthrough, where attackers with limited lives push sector by sector against defenders. Rush is the shorter attack-and-defend mode IGN's reviewer liked for quick sessions, and Escalation, new to Battlefield 6, starts with many points and closes them down as the match goes on. Infantry Modes (Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, Domination, King of the Hill), Obliteration, Naval Warfare and Boats since Season 4 and the rotating Limited-Time Modes fill out the list on Game Modes.

The game launched with nine Maps across Cairo, Gibraltar, Tajikistan, Brooklyn and a remake of Battlefield 3's Operation Firestorm. Each season added more: Blackwell Fields, Eastwood, Contaminated, Hagental Base, Railway to Golmud, Cairo Bazaar, Tsuru Reef, Wake Island, then Vegas Strip and Area 51. By our count that is 19 maps as of Nov 8, 2026 (EA's own maps page lists 18, leaving out the underground Hagental Base), and European Casino makes 20 on Nov 10.

Classes are back after 2042's specialists. gameranx's Jake Baldino summed them up at launch: Assault is the up-close all-rounder, Engineer destroys and repairs vehicles, Support heals, revives and resupplies, and Recon spots and snipes. Each class has training paths that change its passive and active bonuses, and any class can carry any gun, with a bonus for its signature weapon type. Unlocks come from Progression and Unlocks and weapon mastery; what to equip is on Weapons, Attachments and Best Loadouts, and squad play (drag-and-revive, combat roll, mounting) is on Movement, Squads and Revives.

The campaign and REDSEC

The Campaign is nine missions following Dagger 13, a squad of US Marine Raiders, against the private military company Pax Armata in 2027, from Brooklyn to Cairo. It takes about five hours. It was the weak part of the package for most critics: gameranx found it "generic and forgettable" despite a few cool missions, and IGN reviewed it separately and scored it well below the multiplayer. The missions are on Campaign Missions, the plot on Campaign Story and Ending and the squad on Dagger 13 and Characters.

REDSEC is the free-to-play side, out since Oct 28, 2025 on every platform: a battle royale on Fort Lyndon for squads, Ranked BR, and since Season 5 Rapid Royale. It shares guns, classes and much of its balance with multiplayer, which Enders sees as the reason DICE moves carefully: REDSEC is the free entry to the game EA hopes players then buy, so the two cannot feel different. Gauntlet, REDSEC's squad elimination mode, left the playlist on Oct 13, 2026 and lives on as a Portal mode.

Is Battlefield 6 still worth playing in late 2026?

At launch it was a phenomenon. EA said it sold over 7 million copies in three days, the biggest launch in the series, and Steam peaked at 747,440 players on launch day. Circana ranked it the best-selling game of 2025 in US dollar sales, the first time a Battlefield outsold Call of Duty for a year (Sales). It then lost players through the winter: by early January 2026 Steam was under 100,000, Season 2 was delayed a month, and Battlefield Studios had layoffs in March (Steam Player Count).

The critics' view stayed good (an OpenCritic 83, a Game Awards win for Best Audio Design; see Reception and Reviews), but long-time players are split. In his Oct 10, 2026 one-year review, Enders gave DICE "massive credit" for speeding up the content cadence and named Siege of Cairo the best launch map, while calling the gameplay too shallow and the first year a fumble. Steam's own reviews read "Mixed" overall and 43% positive over the last 30 days as of Nov 8, 2026. We think Battlefield 6 is worth playing in late 2026 for anyone who wants large combined-arms battles: Season 5 is the biggest content drop since launch, the game is on Game Pass, and the server browser arrives this month. Players who left over gunplay and vehicle balance have less reason to return, since EA's balance changes so far have been gradual.

How it runs

Battlefield 6 was built for performance over showpiece graphics: it has no ray tracing on any platform. Digital Foundry measured a locked 60 frames per second "the vast majority of the time" in multiplayer on PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X and Series S in their 60 Hz modes, with no rubber banding, and around 80 (PS5) to near 100 (PS5 Pro) in the performance modes on a VRR display. The modes per console and the best PC settings are on Best Settings and Performance; the PC tiers, Secure Boot and the anti-cheat are on PC Requirements and Anti-Cheat.

Where to start on this viki

What we think

  • We think Season 6 brings Platoons and the B-81 Cavalry at its start in early 2027, alongside the jet weapon customization EA has already tied to that season.
  • We think the next returning classic map after Golmud and Wake Island will again come from Battlefield 3 or 4, and that Season 6 adds at least one more large vehicle map rather than another infantry-only one.
  • We think the server browser lifts Battlefield 6's Steam count in December 2026 more than any new map since Season 4, and that EA ranks Multiplayer Ranked behind it into 2027. More of our predictions

Frequently asked questions

Is Battlefield 6 free to play?

No. Battlefield 6 itself is paid ($69.99 Standard on Steam in the US as of Nov 8, 2026) or included with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. REDSEC, its battle royale side, is free on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and EA has run free trials of the full game, most recently Oct 15 to 19, 2026.

What season is Battlefield 6 in right now?

Battlefield 6 is in Season 5, Siege of Vegas, as of Nov 8, 2026. It started on Oct 13, 2026; Phase 2, Casino Heist, starts Nov 10 and Phase 3, Frozen Aces, on Dec 8, 2026.

Does Battlefield 6 have a campaign?

Yes. Battlefield 6 has a nine-mission single-player Campaign of about five hours, following the Marine Raider squad Dagger 13 against Pax Armata.

Is Battlefield 6 on Game Pass?

Yes. Battlefield 6 joined Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on Oct 13, 2026, one year after launch, with the base game rather than the Game of the Year Edition.

Is Battlefield 6 crossplay?

Yes. Battlefield 6 has crossplay between PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, on by default, with console players matched together first. PC players cannot turn it off, and EA said on Oct 21, 2026 that such an option is not planned (Platforms and Crossplay).

Is Battlefield 6 on Switch 2 or Steam Deck?

No. Battlefield 6 is not on Switch 2, and it does not run on Steam Deck or Linux because its kernel-level anti-cheat needs Windows with Secure Boot.

How many players are in a Battlefield 6 match?

Battlefield 6's largest modes, Conquest and Breakthrough, have 64 players (32 per side) in squads of four. Smaller modes like Rush and the Infantry Modes have fewer, and REDSEC's battle royale has 100.

  • Campaign Story and Ending

Battlefield 6's story follows Dagger 13 from Pax Armata's attack in Georgia in 2027 to the war's end in Tajikistan in 2028, and ends with the reveal that CIA handler Melissa Mills helped create Pax to give NATO a common enemy. This page explains the plot and the ending, with spoilers.

  • Dagger 13 and Characters

Dagger 13 is the US Marine Raider squad of Battlefield 6's campaign: Haz Carter (Assault), Dylan Murphy (Engineer), Simone "Gecko" Espina (Recon) and Cliff Lopez (Support), with CIA operator Lucas Hemlock. This page covers them and the other characters, Mills, Kincaid, Al-Khatib and President Fernandez.

  • Pax Armata

Pax Armata is the private military company that fights NATO in Battlefield 6, bankrolled by a Coalition of states that left the alliance. It is the enemy of the campaign and one of the two factions in multiplayer, with its own vehicles, soldiers and carriers.

Classes

  • Assault

Assault is Battlefield 6's objective class. It carries the Adrenaline Injector, captures and arms objectives faster, uses assault rifles best, and brings ladders, grenade launchers, a Deploy Beacon or a second primary weapon; its training paths are Frontliner and Breacher.

  • Classes

Battlefield 6 has four classes, Assault, Engineer, Support and Recon, each with a fixed signature gadget, trait and weapon bonus, two training paths and an active ability. In most modes any class can carry any gun; Closed Weapon playlists keep each class to its signature weapon plus carbines, DMRs and shotguns.

  • Engineer

Engineer is Battlefield 6's vehicle class. It carries the Repair Tool, takes less explosive damage near friendly vehicles, handles SMGs best, and brings launchers, anti-vehicle mines, the EOD Bot and the Vehicle Supply Crate; its training paths are Anti-Armor and Combat Engineer.

  • Recon

Recon is Battlefield 6's scout and sniper class. It spots enemies just by aiming at them, carries the Motion Sensor, handles sniper rifles best, and brings the Recon Drone, Laser Designator, Tracer Dart, C4, mines, jammers and the Sniper Decoy; its training paths are Sniper and Spec Ops.

  • Support

Support is Battlefield 6's medic and ammo class. It carries the Supply Bag, can revive any teammate, handles LMGs with no sprint penalty, and brings the Defibrillator, smoke, intercept systems, Deployable Cover and the Portable Mortar; its training paths are Combat Medic and Fire Support.

Gameplay

  • Destruction

Battlefield 6 uses tactical destruction: most walls, light buildings and cover break in pre-scored chunks under explosives, vehicles, sledgehammers or sustained fire, while metal frames and many ground floors stay up. Season 5 added set-piece collapses such as the Vegas Strip dome and sign, the Area 51 control tower and, from Nov 10, 2026, European Casino's tower.

  • Movement, Squads and Revives

Battlefield 6 moves with sprinting, sliding, crouch-sprinting, a landing roll, leaning and weapon mounting, and plays in four-player squads that spawn on each other, spot with a ping wheel and revive with drag-and-revive. Any class can revive a squadmate, Support can revive anyone, and a revive costs no ticket.

  • Progression and Unlocks

Battlefield 6 progression runs on Career Rank, which unlocks a functional item at every rank from 2 to 50 and cosmetics after, plus assignments that unlock the last guns, gadgets and training paths, and weapon and vehicle mastery to rank 50. EA has sped it up several times since launch, most in March 2026.

Guides

  • Achievements and Trophies

Battlefield 6 has 42 achievements worth 1,000 Gamerscore on Xbox and PC, or 43 trophies with the platinum on PlayStation, plus 11 more for REDSEC; Steam lists all 53 together. Only 9.5% of Steam players have finished the campaign, as of Nov 8, 2026.

  • Best Settings and Performance

On consoles, play Battlefield 6 in Balanced mode for a locked 60 fps, or Performance mode only with a 120 Hz VRR display. On PC, Digital Foundry's optimized settings (High or Medium sun shadows, GTAO or SSGI Low, High textures on 8 GB cards) gave an RTX 3070 72% more speed, and a frame cap fixes stutter on weaker CPUs.

  • PC Requirements and Anti-Cheat

Battlefield 6 on PC needs at least an Intel Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600, an RTX 2060, RX 5600 XT or Arc A380, 16 GB of RAM and Windows 10, and every tier also needs TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot turned on for EA's kernel-level Javelin anti-cheat. EA lists four tiers, from 1080p at 30 fps to 4K at 240 fps with frame generation.

  • Top Tips

The best Battlefield 6 tips in one place, each in a sentence or two with a link to the page that explains it: play one class well, revive and drag before anything else, hit tanks from behind, mount and zero your weapon, and tune a few settings first. Current as of Season 5, Nov 8, 2026.

History

  • Battlefield Series

Battlefield 6 is the latest of the Battlefield games that began with Battlefield 1942 in 2002, and the first main entry since Battlefield 2042 in 2021. It returns to the four classes and a story campaign after 2042 replaced classes with Specialists and had no campaign.

  • Battlefield Studios

Battlefield 6 was made by Battlefield Studios, Electronic Arts' group of four teams: DICE in Stockholm, Ripple Effect in Los Angeles, Motive in Montreal and Criterion in Guildford. Vince Zampella, who led Battlefield from 2021, died in a car crash on Dec 21, 2025, and EA, now privately owned, cut Battlefield staff in Mar 2026.

Maps

  • Area 51

Area 51 is a Battlefield 6 map at the secret Nevada base, added on Oct 13, 2026 with Season 5 Siege of Vegas. • Blackwell Fields

Blackwell Fields is a Battlefield 6 map set at a recommissioned US air base in the Southern California badlands, added with Season 1 on Oct 28, 2025. It has six Conquest points, land vehicles and aircraft, and was widely called the weakest new map; EA reworks it on Dec 8, 2026.

  • Cairo Bazaar

Cairo Bazaar is Battlefield 6's remake of Battlefield 3's Grand Bazaar, a mirrored close-quarters city block in Cairo added on Jun 9, 2026 with Season 3's Blastpoint phase. It keeps the old lanes and the Alley of Death, turns the center into a covered market, and lets you blow open walls for new routes.

  • Contaminated

Contaminated is a Battlefield 6 map around a German airbase on a Bavarian mountainside, added on Feb 17, 2026 as Season 2's launch map. It sits between Eastwood and Mirak Valley in size, has land vehicles and helicopters, hidden routes, rockfalls and VL-7 gas, and is the first half of Operation Augur.

  • Eastwood

Eastwood is a Battlefield 6 map set in a wealthy Southern California suburb with villas, pools and a golf course, added on Nov 18, 2025 with Season 1's California Resistance. It has five Conquest points around a destructible clubhouse, tanks and helicopters but no jets, and drivable golf carts.

  • Empire State

Empire State is an infantry-only Battlefield 6 launch map in the streets of Brooklyn, New York, built from alleys, rooftops, two towers joined by a sky bridge and a tennis court. Its winter version, Ice Lock Empire State, ran as a limited-time map from Dec 9, 2025.

  • Hagental Base

Hagental Base is Battlefield 6's underground, infantry-only map in Bavaria, added on Mar 17, 2026 with Season 2's Nightfall phase. It is a linear run of tunnels, server rooms and a hangar with five Conquest points, breakable walls and hidden flanks, and the second half of the Operation Augur mode.

  • Iberian Offensive

Iberian Offensive is a small Battlefield 6 launch map in the winding streets of Gibraltar, with five objectives, light armor and heavy destruction of upper floors. It was one of the three maps of the first open beta weekend.

  • Liberation Peak

Liberation Peak is a Battlefield 6 launch map on a mountainside in Tajikistan, with six Conquest objectives, jets, helicopters and tanks. Its hilltops made it the game's best-known sniper map, and its Breakthrough was reworked in Dec 2025.

  • Manhattan Bridge

Manhattan Bridge is a Battlefield 6 launch map in Brooklyn, New York, fought in the streets and brownstones under the bridge's approach with tanks and attack helicopters. It is the vehicle map of the Brooklyn theater; Empire State is its infantry-only twin.

  • Maps

Battlefield 6 has 19 multiplayer maps as of Nov 8, 2026, nine from launch and ten added across five seasons, with European Casino due as the 20th on Nov 10, 2026. The largest are Tsuru Reef and Railway to Golmud; the smallest is Saints Quarter.

  • Mirak Valley

Mirak Valley is the largest of Battlefield 6's launch maps, a war-torn valley in Tajikistan with every type of vehicle, trenches, a river and a construction site whose crane can be brought down. Since Season 5 it is also one of REDSEC's Rapid Royale maps.

  • New Sobek City

New Sobek City is a Battlefield 6 launch map set in a construction yard on the edge of Cairo, with sand dunes, tall unfinished buildings, tanks and attack helicopters. EA is reworking it for Season 5's Frozen Aces phase on Dec 8, 2026.

  • Operation Firestorm

Operation Firestorm is Battlefield 6's remake of the Battlefield 3 oil field map, a launch map since Oct 10, 2025 in the Legacy theater. It is a combined-arms map with tanks, helicopters and jets, five Conquest flags where Battlefield 3 had three, and much more cover than the original.

  • Railway to Golmud

Railway to Golmud is Battlefield 6's rebuild of Battlefield 4's Golmud Railway, added on May 12, 2026 with Season 3 and moved to Tajikistan. It has seven Conquest points, a capturable train that now drives toward the enemy HQ, every vehicle type and the largest airspace in the game, and it was the most-played new map of 2026.

  • Saints Quarter

Saints Quarter is Battlefield 6's smallest map, an infantry-only street fight around a fountain in Gibraltar's Old Town. It runs only the close-quarters modes, such as Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, Domination and King of the Hill, with 16 players.

  • Siege of Cairo

Siege of Cairo is a Battlefield 6 launch map set in the streets of central Cairo, where infantry and a small number of tanks fight over five objectives split by a main road. Creators rank it among the best of the launch maps.

  • Tsuru Reef

Tsuru Reef is Battlefield 6's largest map, a fictional Japanese island chain in the Pacific built for Naval Warfare and added on Jul 21, 2026 as the 16th map with Season 4. Six islands with a resort, an air base, a port and a dormant volcano are joined by shallow water and bridges, and two playable carriers were added for Carrier Strike.

  • Vegas Strip

Vegas Strip is a Battlefield 6 map set among the casinos and hotels of the Las Vegas Strip, added on Oct 13, 2026 with Season 5 Siege of Vegas. It mixes tank and helicopter fights on the boulevard with infantry fights in hotel lobbies, rooftops and storm drains, around four areas: Olympus, the Crater, Karat Plaza and Art Deco.

  • Wake Island

Wake Island is Battlefield 6's version of the series' oldest map, a horseshoe-shaped Pacific atoll added on Aug 18, 2026 with Season 4's Top Gun phase as the 17th map. It has seven points of interest, a new shipwreck in the lagoon, tunnels and ziplines, boats, jets and offshore carriers.

Modes

  • Breakthrough

Breakthrough is Battlefield 6's attack-and-defend mode: attackers with a limited pool of lives must hold every flag of a sector at once to push the front line forward, and defenders with unlimited lives try to drain that pool. It launched at 64 players; since Nov 13, 2025 six maps run it at 48, with no EA statement.

  • Conquest

Conquest is Battlefield 6's 64-player flag mode: two teams of 32 capture lettered objectives, and a team loses when its tickets (1,000 by EA's default) run out from deaths without revives and from the other side holding more flags. Holding every flag for a minute wins outright.

  • Escalation

Escalation is the one new mode Battlefield 6 launched with: two teams of up to 32 fight over a row of flags, holding more of them fills a meter, each filled meter takes a territory and removes a flag, and EA's rule is that the first team to three territories wins. TheGamer's launch guide says two; EA's three is the rule.

  • Game Modes

Battlefield 6 launched with eight multiplayer modes, four All-Out Warfare modes (Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush, Escalation) and four smaller infantry modes, and has since added Obliteration, Tactical Obliteration, Strikepoint and a run of limited-time modes. As of Nov 8, 2026 official matchmaking runs fewer, rotating playlists.

  • Infantry Modes

Battlefield 6's small infantry modes are Team Deathmatch (8v8, first to 100 kills), Squad Deathmatch (four squads of four, first to 50), Domination (8v8, first to 200 points), King of the Hill (8v8, one moving zone), the 4v4 one-life Strikepoint (out of rotation as of Nov 8, 2026) and the 8v8 Sabotage event mode.

  • Limited-Time Modes

Battlefield 6's limited-time modes so far are Ice Lock (Dec 9, 2025), VL-7 Strike (Feb 17, 2026), Nightfall (Mar 17, 2026), Operation Augur (Apr 14, 2026), Top Gun: Carrier Strike (Aug 18 to Oct 13, 2026) and the Dead Space crossover Marker Incursion (Oct 20 to Nov 10, 2026). Operation High Roller is next, with Frozen Aces on Dec 8, 2026.

  • Obliteration

Obliteration came back from Battlefield 4 on Jun 9, 2026: up to 64 players race for one neutral bomb and try to plant it on the enemy's M-COM stations, and the first team to destroy all three enemy M-COMs wins. Tactical Obliteration, the renamed Squad Obliteration, followed on Jun 30, 2026 as an 8v8 infantry version where two M-COMs win.

  • Portal and Server Browser

Battlefield Portal is Battlefield 6's built-in sandbox for player-made modes, and from Season 5 Phase 2 (staged rollout after Nov 10, 2026) it sits behind a real server browser with Official, Player-Hosted, Verified and Custom servers. Verified servers give full XP; Custom ones give reduced XP.

  • Rush

Rush is Battlefield 6's 12v12 attack-and-defend mode: attackers with limited lives arm pairs of M-COM stations that explode 30 seconds later, defenders with unlimited lives defuse them, and every destroyed pair moves the fight to the next sector. EA rebuilt every Rush layout after the beta and added Rush to Mirak Valley on Feb 17, 2026.

Overview

  • Battlefield 6

Battlefield 6 is Battlefield Studios' and EA's modern all-out warfare shooter, out since Oct 10, 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with 64-player battles, four classes, a short campaign and the free battle royale REDSEC. As of Nov 8, 2026 it is in Season 5, Siege of Vegas.

  • Platforms and Crossplay

Battlefield 6 is on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam, EA app and Epic Games Store), with crossplay across all of them on by default. There is no PS4, Xbox One, Switch 2, Steam Deck or Linux version, and PC players cannot turn crossplay off.

  • Predictions

We think Battlefield 6's next remade map is Caspian Border from Battlefield 3, that Season 6 opens in Jan or Feb 2027 built around vehicles and the delayed B-81 Cavalry, and that EA supports the game through 2027 instead of announcing a successor.

  • Price and Editions

Battlefield 6 costs $69.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Game of the Year Edition on Steam in the US as of Nov 8, 2026, and it is included with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass since Oct 13, 2026. The $99.99 Phantom Edition was the launch deluxe edition; REDSEC is free.

  • Reception and Reviews

Critics rated Battlefield 6 well: 83 on OpenCritic with 89% recommending it, and 83 on Metacritic for PS5 (84 on Xbox Series X, 82 on PC), as of Nov 8, 2026. Reviewers praised the multiplayer and called the campaign its weakest part, while Steam players turned to "Mixed" over Season 1's maps and monetization.

  • Release Date and Launch

Battlefield 6 came out on Oct 10, 2025 at 15:00 UTC (8 a.m. PT) on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, at the same moment worldwide. It was revealed on Jul 24, 2025, shown in multiplayer on Jul 31, and tested in an open beta over two weekends in August 2025.

  • Sales

Electronic Arts' only unit figure for Battlefield 6 is over 7 million copies sold in its first three days, announced on Oct 16, 2025. EA later called it the best-selling shooter of 2025, and Circana ranked it the best-selling game of 2025 in the US, the first year a Battlefield outsold Call of Duty there.

  • Steam Player Count

Battlefield 6 had 43,714 people playing on Steam at 20:00 UTC on Nov 7, 2026, per SteamDB, against an all-time Steam peak of 747,440 on its launch day, Oct 10, 2025. Since Season 2 its daily peaks have averaged about 51,000 to 54,000 a season, and every new season lifts them for about two weeks.

REDSEC

  • Fort Lyndon

Fort Lyndon is REDSEC's battle royale map, a Southern California military base, beach town and suburbs that EA calls the largest Battlefield map ever created, with 9 major and 16 smaller points of interest. This page covers its places, where to land, its vehicles, the ring and how it changed by season.

  • Gauntlet

Gauntlet was REDSEC's squad knockout mode, in which eight squads of four played four short missions and the lowest scorers were cut after each, from Oct 28, 2025 until it left the playlists on Oct 13, 2026. It survives as a verified Portal mode.

  • REDSEC

Battlefield REDSEC is Battlefield 6's free-to-play battle royale, out since Oct 28, 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. As of Season 5 (Nov 8, 2026) it offers Battle Royale on Fort Lyndon, Ranked, Casual and Rapid Royale, and shares its progression and battle pass with Battlefield 6.

Seasons

  • Battle Pass and Battlefield Pro

Each Battlefield 6 season has one battle pass of 100+ tiers shared with REDSEC, with weapons on the free track; the premium pass costs 1,100 Battlefield Coins (about $9.99) and Battlefield Pro, the top tier with 25 tier skips, $24.99, as EA has priced them since Season 1.

  • Roadmap and Season 6

As of Nov 8, 2026, EA has said Season 6 is planned, with jet weapon customization, and that a 2027 roadmap comes early in the new year; Platoons and the B-81 Cavalry were delayed to 2027 on Nov 6, Ranked multiplayer and Strikepoint have no date, and Commander Mode and a PC crossplay toggle are not planned.

  • Season 1

Season 1 ran from Oct 28, 2025 to Feb 17, 2026, the longest season so far after a four-week extension. Its phases Rogue Ops, California Resistance and Winter Offensive added Blackwell Fields, Eastwood and Ice Lock Empire State, and it launched the free battle royale REDSEC and Battlefield 6's first cosmetics backlash.

  • Season 2

Season 2 ran from Feb 17 to May 12, 2026, four weeks later than planned, in three phases, Extreme Measures, Nightfall and Hunter/Prey, set around a German mountain airbase, with the Contaminated and Hagental Base maps, VL-7 hallucinogenic smoke and the two-map Operation Augur.

  • Season 3

Season 3 ran from May 12 to Jul 21, 2026 in three phases, Warlords: Supremacy, Blastpoint and High-Value Target, and brought back Railway to Golmud and Cairo Bazaar, Obliteration, Ranked and Solos battle royale in REDSEC, and a large gunplay overhaul.

  • Season 4

Season 4, "Pacific Front", ran from Jul 21 to Oct 13, 2026 and brought Naval Warfare, the Tsuru Reef archipelago, the return of Wake Island, the Top Gun: Carrier Strike event with two-seat jets, and Proximity Chat in REDSEC.

  • Season 5

Season 5, "Siege of Vegas", is Battlefield 6's current season, live since Oct 13, 2026. Phase 1 brought Vegas Strip and Area 51, Phase 2 Casino Heist adds the European Casino map on Nov 10, and Phase 3 Frozen Aces is announced for Dec 8, without the Platoons and B-81 Cavalry that EA delayed to 2027 on Nov 6.

  • Seasons

Battlefield 6 has had five seasons since its Oct 10, 2025 launch, each in three phases with new maps, weapons and events; Season 5, Siege of Vegas, is current as of Nov 8, 2026, and Season 6 is planned for 2027.

Vehicles

  • Helicopters

Battlefield 6 has three helicopters as of Season 5 (Nov 8, 2026): the UH-79 Transport Helicopter and the M77E Falchion / Panthera KHT Attack Helicopter from launch, and the AH-6 Little Bird / MH-350 Scout Helicopter added on Feb 17, 2026. Update 2.1.1.0 made all three much harder to kill with light rockets.

  • Jets

Battlefield 6 has four jets as of Season 5 (Nov 8, 2026): the single-seat Attack Jet and Fighter Jet from launch, and the two-seat F/A-81F and F-74A Seacat added with Top Gun on Aug 18, 2026. Jet weapon customization for the launch jets is planned for Season 6.

  • Naval Warfare and Boats

Naval Warfare came to Battlefield 6 with Season 4 on Jul 21, 2026, bringing the 7.7m NSW RHIB and the RCB-90 armored patrol boat, waves, swimming combat and the island map Tsuru Reef; aircraft carriers followed on Aug 18, 2026 with Wake Island and Top Gun: Carrier Strike.

  • Tanks and Ground Vehicles

Battlefield 6's ground vehicles as of Season 5 (Nov 8, 2026) are the Main Battle Tank, the Infantry Fighting Vehicle, the Mobile Anti-Air, the Armored Transport, the Light Ground Transport, the quad bike, the dirt bike and the golf cart, with the M142 MRAS artillery truck due on Nov 10, 2026. Tanks take double damage from behind since Season 3, and 2.5 times from straight behind since Season 5.

  • Vehicles

As of Season 5 (Nov 8, 2026) Battlefield 6 has 17 vehicles across land, air and sea, from the Main Battle Tank and the Little Bird to the two-seat jets and the RCB-90 patrol boat, with the M142 MRAS artillery truck due Nov 10, 2026 and the B-81 Cavalry delayed to 2027. Which ones you get depends on the map and the mode.

Weapons

  • Assault Rifles and Carbines

Battlefield 6 has 12 assault rifles, the Assault class's signature weapon, and 9 carbines that every class can use, as of Nov 8, 2026 (Season 5); the NSW4 makes 10 carbines on Nov 10. The newest rifle is the Mk 24, and the M16A4 was the most deployed gun of Season 3.

  • Attachments

Every Battlefield 6 gun takes attachments in up to nine slots, paid for from a budget of attachment points that tops out at 100, so a build trades one strong part for several cheap ones. Attachments unlock with the gun's Hardware rank, about 50% faster since mid-2026, and every season has added a few.

  • Best Loadouts

The strongest Battlefield 6 loadouts in Season 5, as creators rated them in Oct 2026, are the KORD 6P67 or B36A4 for Assault, the SCW-10 or CZ3A1 for Engineer, the DRS-IAR for Support and the new ELR-40 with single-shot ammo for Recon. Every pick here is credited and dated, and the SCW-10's extended magazine changes on Nov 10, 2026.

  • DMRs and Sniper Rifles

Battlefield 6 has 6 DMRs, open to every class, and 7 sniper rifles, the Recon's signature weapon, as of Nov 8, 2026 (Season 5). The new ELR-40 with single-shot ammo is the sniper creators rate highest in Oct 2026, and EA has promised a bolt-action and counter-sniping review for 2027.

  • LMGs

Battlefield 6 has 11 light machine guns as of Nov 8, 2026 (Season 5), the Support class's signature weapon, with the newest, the belt-fed Z84M, added on Oct 13, 2026. Creators in Oct 2026 still rate the launch DRS-IAR the best all-rounder and split on whether the Z84M is a close-range monster or a gimmick.

  • Shotguns and Pistols

Battlefield 6 has 4 shotguns, open to every class, and 7 secondaries (five pistols and two revolvers) as of Nov 8, 2026 (Season 5). The default M87A1 is the shotgun creators rate best, with #00 Buckshot, and the two revolvers, the M357 Trait and M44, are their favorite sidearms.

  • SMGs

Battlefield 6 has 11 submachine guns as of Nov 8, 2026 (Season 5), counting the new RSPR, which EA calls a PDW. They are the Engineer's signature weapon and fire faster than any other primary; in late Oct 2026 creators rated the SCW-10 and CZ3A1 the strongest, and EA is adding handling penalties to the SCW-10 and KV9 extended magazines on Nov 10.

  • Weapons

Battlefield 6 has 67 guns in eight categories as of Nov 8, 2026 (Season 5), up from 45 at launch, and the NSW4 Carbine makes it 68 on Nov 10, 2026. EA's own list shows one fewer because it leaves out the RPKM, which is still in the game. Every gun is listed here with the season it arrived.
