Assault
Assault is Battlefield 6's objective class. It carries the Adrenaline Injector, captures and arms objectives faster, uses assault rifles best, and brings ladders, grenade launchers, a Deploy Beacon or a second primary weapon; its training paths are Frontliner and Breacher.
Assault is the class that takes objectives in Battlefield 6: EA calls it the squad's primary scorer and compares it to a striker in football (EA's Assault page, Apr 9, 2026). Its trait captures points and arms or disarms M-COMs faster, its Adrenaline Injector shrugs off flashes and explosions, and squadmates can spawn on an Assault sooner after a fight. In his Oct 15, 2025 guide ItalianSpartacus sums it up as the class that "can be a literal moving spawn beacon." How it compares with the other three is on Classes.

Signature set: trait, injector and rifle
Mission Focused gives faster objective progress, including arming and disarming M-COMs, and a shorter in-combat cooldown so squadmates can deploy on you sooner (EA). ItalianSpartacus shows why it matters: an Assault adds more weight to a capture than another class, so swapping one player on a point to Assault makes the point flip faster, and a lone Assault can back-cap a flag.
The Adrenaline Injector is a sprint boost that also reduces the effect of flash, stun, incendiary and explosive damage. It works two ways in the clip: proactively, popped just before a push out of cover, or reactively, to clear a flash or stun at once.
The assault rifle bonus is small: EA says it cuts mobility penalties on accuracy builds or speeds sprint-to-fire on run-and-gun builds, with the rifle at its best between 12 and 50 meters. In Closed Weapon playlists Assault is held to assault rifles plus carbines, DMRs and shotguns; the rifles themselves are on Assault Rifles and Carbines.
Gadgets
Two gadget slots, from this list (EA's Assault page, Apr 9, 2026):
| Gadget | What it does |
|---|---|
| Assault Ladder | A ladder up to high ground, or a ramp or bridge across gaps between buildings. Patch 1.0.1.0 raised its ramp angle from 45 to 54 degrees. |
| Deploy Beacon | A spawn point for you and your squad. Since patch 1.0.1.0 it allows one spawn per player, 4 per squad, then self-destructs. |
| Breaching Projectile Launcher | Burrows through a wall, door or floor, then blinds whoever is behind it; a direct hit does minor damage. |
| Thermobaric Grenade Launcher | Explosion plus lingering fire and blurred vision; can sit on a rifle with the Gadget Mount attachment. |
| High Explosive Launcher | Solid damage to soldiers and structures; a direct hit kills; also Gadget Mount capable. |
| Incendiary-Round Shotgun | A bolt-action shotgun whose rounds set targets alight; fired at the ground it leaves a fire zone. |
| Extra Primary Weapon | A second primary: a carbine or DMR for range, or a shotgun for close quarters. |
Patch figures from Dexerto's launch patch notes (Oct 9, 2025). GameSpot's clip calls the Extra Primary Weapon what makes Assault "very versatile for most situations."
The extra primary has a cost. jackfrags shows that the Assault who carries two primaries starts with less ammunition for them, so if you keep running dry, swap that slot for another gadget.
The ladder deploys three ways depending on the angle you place it at: a steep ladder, a shallow ramp, or a bridge. jackfrags uses the ramp to keep his gun out and make firing positions over cover that the map does not offer.
Of the two launchers, the High Explosive Launcher is for killing infantry; the Thermobaric launcher does little damage at first but stuns and burns, so ItalianSpartacus fires it into a room before charging in.
Throwables
Assault's own grenades are the Concussive Grenade, which slows enemies and hits moving ones hardest, and the Flash Grenade, which disorients (EA). The Frag Grenade is open to every class, and the Breacher path adds extra grenades. ItalianSpartacus prefers the stun: a flash barely affects someone facing away, while the stun stops anyone in range from aiming or sprinting.
Training paths: Frontliner and Breacher
Both paths share the active ability Rally Squad, a temporary adrenaline effect for you and nearby squadmates that lasts longer with kills; EA notes it is "not invincibility." The levels come during a match, earned through teamplay and score.
| Frontliner | Breacher | |
|---|---|---|
| How to get it | Open by default (EA, Apr 9, 2026) | Assault Class Assignment |
| Passive | Adrenaline Rush: squadmates who deploy on you or your Deploy Beacon get Adrenaline Injector effects for several seconds | Extra Grenades |
| Level 1 | Soft Landing: less fall and jump damage | Agile Shooter: smaller movement penalty while firing |
| Level 2 | Quicker Recovery: faster health regeneration and better healing | Unrelenting Reload: faster reloads for the Incendiary-Round Shotgun, grenade launchers and Breaching Projectile Launcher |
| Plays like | A spawn point and team buffer | A run-and-gun room clearer |
Launch-era guides, this clip among them, had it the other way round, with Breacher as the starting path and Frontliner as the unlock. EA's rewritten Apr 9, 2026 page lists Frontliner first and marks Breacher as the assignment reward, and we follow EA. ItalianSpartacus prefers Frontliner in the clip, because its adrenaline reaches everyone who spawns on you and on your beacon.
How to play Assault
Drop the Deploy Beacon before you flank or back-cap, not after: with one spawn per squadmate it gives the squad a second chance, not an endless one. ItalianSpartacus says this is the only Battlefield he knows to cap beacon spawns and would rather have a timer. EA also cut the Assault assignment that asked for 50 squad spawns on your beacon to 5 in its Nov 5, 2025 challenge overhaul (EA on Steam).
Play it as the class that lets the team push, not as a lone hero. If you are the only one on a point, the other team swarms you; if you hold cover near it and let the squad spawn on you, the point falls. Burst fire in two- to four-shot bursts beats holding the trigger, and every death costs a ticket, so a trade of one kill for one death has done nothing for the team. The wider tips are on Top Tips, and good Assault builds are on Best Loadouts.
We think Assault is the weakest of the four classes as of Nov 8, 2026, and EA's own numbers agree with us: it fell from the most picked class in the beta to the third across 2025, and EA put it "under review" on Oct 21, 2026. The trait and Rally Squad are strong on infantry maps like Empire State and Cairo Bazaar, but on vehicle maps the class has nothing for armor beyond a grenade launcher, so we expect the review to give it some way to hurt light vehicles. That is our view, not EA's.
Assault in REDSEC (Season 5)
In Season 5, from Oct 13, 2026, Assault in the REDSEC battle royale works differently from multiplayer. Update 2.1.1.0 removed the Hazmat Breacher path there and gave Assault one four-level path, starting with the Assault Ladder and the HE Grenade Launcher (2.1.1.0 notes, Oct 12, 2026):
- Level 1: smaller penalty for firing while moving.
- Level 2: 50% faster passive regeneration, 50% better healing and 50% shorter revive sickness.
- Level 3: High Explosive launcher blasts throw out fused submunitions (3 in the patch notes, 5 in EA's Oct 1 post).
- Level 4: gadget resupply 10% faster per improvement, reset on death (every class).
None of this applies to Battlefield 6 multiplayer, where the two paths above are unchanged.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Assault signature gadget?
The Adrenaline Injector: a sprint boost that also cuts the effect of flash, stun, incendiary and explosive damage.
Can Assault use two primary weapons?
Yes, with the Extra Primary Weapon gadget: a second primary such as a carbine, DMR or shotgun next to your rifle. It costs a gadget slot and some ammunition.
How many times can my squad spawn on a Deploy Beacon?
Once per player, four per squad, before it self-destructs, since patch 1.0.1.0 at launch.
Which Assault training path is best?
Frontliner for squad play, since its adrenaline reaches everyone spawning on you; Breacher for solo pushing, with extra grenades and faster launcher reloads. Frontliner is open from the start.
Is Assault being changed?
EA said on Oct 21, 2026 that the Assault class is "under review," with no timeline. Nothing has changed in multiplayer as of Nov 8, 2026.
