Helicopters
Battlefield 6 has three helicopters as of Season 5 (Nov 8, 2026): the UH-79 Transport Helicopter and the M77E Falchion / Panthera KHT Attack Helicopter from launch, and the AH-6 Little Bird / MH-350 Scout Helicopter added on Feb 17, 2026. Update 2.1.1.0 made all three much harder to kill with light rockets.
Battlefield 6 has three helicopters as of Nov 8, 2026: the five-seat UH-79 Transport Helicopter and the two-seat Attack Helicopter (M77E Falchion for NATO, Panthera KHT for Pax Armata), both there since launch on Oct 10, 2025, and the four-seat Scout Helicopter, the AH-6 Little Bird (MH-350 for Pax Armata), added with Season 2 on Feb 17, 2026. In the clip IGN sums up the launch pair: the attack helicopter's loadout can be customized and its pilot's job is damage, while the transport is a locked platform whose pilot's job is a steady ride for gunners and passengers.

Every helicopter in Battlefield 6
| Helicopter | NATO / Pax Armata | Seats | What it does | Arrived |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Transport Helicopter | UH-79 | 5: pilot, 2 minigun gunners, 2 passengers | Moves a squad, spawn point, most aerial health | Launch |
| Attack Helicopter | M77E Falchion / Panthera KHT | 2: pilot, gunner | Guns, rockets, guided missiles, flares; squad spawn | Launch |
| Scout Helicopter | AH-6 Little Bird / MH-350 | 4: pilot, gunner, 2 side passengers | Fastest helicopter, low health | Season 2, Feb 17, 2026 |
Seats and roles are from EA's vehicles page, updated Jul 21, 2026; the Little Bird's date is from the Season 2 roadmap. EA tested it early in Battlefield Labs in January 2026, alongside the Contaminated map it launched with. For the other vehicles see Vehicles.
How to fly a helicopter
The left stick (or W, S, A and D) climbs, descends and spins the helicopter in place; the right stick or mouse pitches it forward, back and sideways. To fly forward you tip the nose down so the rotor pushes you along, and every tilt costs height, so you climb at the same time. IGN's Oct 2025 guide also warns that acceleration and braking are slow: line targets up from far away and keep your speed through the pass.
New pilots should turn on Helicopter Control Assists, under Gameplay, Vehicle in the settings. With it the helicopter holds its altitude, you point it by looking, and you move with your normal movement keys, which is far easier than the full controls.
The most useful move is the quick 180: spin and pitch the same way at once and the helicopter drops and turns back on itself, gaining speed as it falls. It needs height to start with, so use it to escape, not near the ground.
Third-person view shows the whole airframe and makes small corrections easier. IGN recommends learning to switch between first and third person as the fight changes.
Attack Helicopter
The Attack Helicopter is the gunship: a pilot with rockets and a gunner with a cannon and guided missiles, and it is a spawn point for the squad. Its loadout is the only aircraft loadout you could change at launch.
Aiming its rockets has a quirk Strider points out: the light missiles converge on your crosshair, so you aim them where you look, while the heavy missiles do not.
It has been tuned more than any other aircraft. Update 1.2.2.0 (Mar 17, 2026) slowed its guided missiles; 1.2.3.0 (notes of Apr 10, 2026) cut its heavy rocket radius from 7 m to 5.5 m; and 1.3.2.0 (notes of Jun 5, 2026) gave it innate radar.
Scout Helicopter (Little Bird)
The AH-6 Little Bird is the series' favorite: small, fast and fragile, with two passengers on the side benches who can shoot their own weapons. It came back with Season 2 Extreme Measures. In EclipseFPS's Feb 18, 2026 look at it, the day after it arrived, the heavy rotary machine gun was the meta pick from day one: it fires nearly as fast as the minigun but hits harder and is more accurate, against aircraft above all. Its rockets regenerate more slowly since 1.2.3.0 (light rockets 21 to 27 seconds, smart rockets 16 to 20), and update 1.4.3.0 (Sep 15, 2026) made its minigun overheat about 33% faster and deal half damage to RCB-90 boats and armored transports (Naval Warfare and Boats).
Transport Helicopter
The UH-79 is the easiest helicopter to fly and the toughest, and its two door gunners carry miniguns. In Strider's Oct 18, 2025 guide its door miniguns kill infantry in three hits and shred an attack helicopter almost at once, though he found the transport itself died to nearly anything at launch; update 1.2.2.0 then raised its health by 20% (outside battle royale). An Engineer riding in the back can repair it in flight, which IGN calls one of the few ways to heal an aircraft in the air. Since hotfix 1.4.2.5 (Sep 1, 2026) helicopter miniguns damage swimmers again.
How hard are helicopters to kill? (Update 2.1.1.0)
Season 5's update 2.1.1.0 of Oct 12, 2026 changed the anti-air math more than any patch before it. This table is assembled from EA's notes:
| Change | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Light rocket hits to down a Scout Helicopter | 4 | 7 |
| Light rocket hits to down an Attack Helicopter | 5 | 9 |
| Light rocket hits to down a Transport Helicopter | 11 | 15 |
| Mobile AA 35 mm damage to helicopters | 26 | 45 |
| Rocket pod resupply | 28 s | 38 s |
| 70 mm FFAR splash damage | 100% | 70% |
So helicopters shrug off light rockets but die faster to the Mobile Anti-Air (Tanks and Ground Vehicles). On Oct 21, 2026 EA said these vehicle changes are under review with "no quick knee-jerk adjustments".
We think this was the right direction for infantry players and the wrong one for helicopter crews on small maps: a Little Bird that once fell to four light rockets now needs seven, but on Vegas Strip and other tight maps a Mobile AA tank covers most of the sky. We expect EA to trim the Mobile AA's damage against the Scout Helicopter before Season 6 while leaving the rocket counts alone.
Staying alive and repairing
Helicopters have an emergency repair and regain health after a while without damage, and an Engineer passenger can repair a transport helicopter in flight; otherwise you fly back over your team's airstrip, which restores part of your health at once and refills ammunition. Flares break locks from Engineers' launchers (Engineer); the Recon's Laser Designator speeds those locks, so a lit-up helicopter should leave.
What is coming
On Oct 21, 2026 EA said new Scout and Attack Helicopter abilities, including a TV-guided missile you fly onto a target, are in development without a date (Roadmap and Season 6).
Frequently asked questions
How many helicopters are in Battlefield 6?
Three: the UH-79 Transport, the Attack Helicopter (M77E Falchion / Panthera KHT) and the Scout Helicopter (AH-6 Little Bird / MH-350).
When did the Little Bird come to Battlefield 6?
With Season 2 Extreme Measures on Feb 17, 2026.
What is the easiest helicopter to fly?
The UH-79 Transport, according to EA. Turn on Helicopter Control Assists in the vehicle settings to make any helicopter hover on its own.
Can you customize helicopters?
The Attack Helicopter's loadout can be changed. The Transport Helicopter is fixed.
Where can I practice flying helicopters?
In Portal, on a server you host with bots. See Portal and Server Browser.
