Jets
Battlefield 6 has four jets as of Season 5 (Nov 8, 2026): the single-seat Attack Jet and Fighter Jet from launch, and the two-seat F/A-81F and F-74A Seacat added with Top Gun on Aug 18, 2026. Jet weapon customization for the launch jets is planned for Season 6.
Battlefield 6 has four jets as of Nov 8, 2026: the Attack Jet and the Fighter Jet that came with the game on Oct 10, 2025, one seat each, and two two-seaters, the F/A-81F and the swing-wing F-74A Seacat, added in Season 4's Top Gun phase on Aug 18, 2026. In the clip IGN explains the launch pair: the Attack Jet is built for ground targets with air-to-surface lock-on missiles, the Fighter Jet for other aircraft, and neither loadout can be changed. That changes with Season 6, when EA plans weapon customization for the launch jets.

Telling the launch jets apart on the spawn screen is easy once you know: in Fallout Plays' Oct 21, 2025 jet guide, the Attack Jet has one big tail and one engine, the Fighter Jet a split, Y-shaped tail and two engines, whichever faction you play.
The launch models and roles are from EA's vehicles page (updated Jul 21, 2026). The two-seaters are from the Season 4 roadmap of Jul 17, 2026 and update 1.4.2.0. For every other vehicle see Vehicles.
How to fly a jet
The left stick (W and S, A and D on keyboard) sets throttle and yaw; the right stick or mouse rolls and pitches. Pitch is inverted by default, as in a real cockpit, so pushing forward points the nose down. You turn by rolling onto your side and pulling the nose up, which is much faster than steering with yaw, and the afterburner fires while the throttle is open. EA's vehicles page points to the inverted-look options in the settings if you want it the other way.
Attack runs need distance. IGN's tip is to fly away from the fight for 5 to 10 seconds, turn, line the target up from far out, and fire until you must pull up. The floating circle in the cockpit view is where your bullets will land while you turn, so lead targets with it.
Staying alive: flares, repairs and anti-air
Every aircraft carries flares that break an enemy lock, but they recharge more slowly than infantry can reload a launcher. IGN's advice is to wait until the warning reads "incoming" before firing them, then put distance between you and where you were tagged.
There is almost no way to repair a jet in the air. Fly low over your own airstrip and part of your health comes back at once; land on it and it keeps regenerating while your ammunition refills. EA's Tsuru Reef guide gives the same tip for its island airfield: land on Tsuru Air Base's runway to repair.
A rocket hit does not always kill. Fallout Plays shows that a hit often throws the jet into a tail spin, and that you can recover by leaning into it: keep rolling in the direction the jet is already spinning instead of bailing out.
The enemy's anti-air is thickest in their half of the map, near their spawn. IGN's rule is to fly mostly over your own half, support your team from above and behind, and stay near your runway.
Anti-air has grown stronger over the year. Engineers carry three lock-on launchers (Engineer), including the Active Locking Air-Defense Launcher, the 9K38 Igla, added on Feb 17, 2026, which re-locks after a flare if the gunner keeps aiming. On Oct 12, 2026, update 2.1.1.0 nearly doubled the Mobile Anti-Air's 35 mm damage against jets, from 32.5 to 62.5, and removed its overheat penalty. Earlier, update 1.1.3.5 of Jan 16, 2026 had cut jet cannon damage against jets and helicopters, so they take about 40% more hits to bring down.
The two-seat jets and Carrier Strike
The F/A-81F and Seacat came for Top Gun: Carrier Strike, a 32v32 mode on Tsuru Reef where each side's aircraft carrier is the objective (Limited-Time Modes). EA's Carrier Strike guide of Aug 13, 2026 notes that a jet's bombs hit as hard as one of the mode's SSM missile strikes on the enemy carrier, and hotfix 1.4.2.5 (Sep 1, 2026) let the new jets laser-designate targets in Carrier Strike. REDSEC got a jets-only Gauntlet variant, Fighter Sweep, limited to two-player squads from 1.4.2.5.
Which maps have jets?
Jets fly on the big vehicle maps. EA's map pages list them for Operation Firestorm (Battlefield 3's oil field), Mirak Valley (every vehicle type), Liberation Peak (dogfights between rocky peaks), Blackwell Fields (an air base), Tsuru Reef and Wake Island (with carriers) and Area 51, where update 2.1.1.0 lists a jet and an air traffic control tower that can be brought down. Infantry-only maps such as Empire State and Saints Quarter have none. The full list is on Maps.
How to practice flying
Practice in Portal, not in a live lobby. IGN names a "Free Flying" experience where you spawn in a field of jets and helicopters with a few passive bots, which you can host yourself and reset when the aircraft run out. EA's own Ace Pursuit is a jet checkpoint race. How to host one is on Portal and Server Browser.
Jet customization and what is coming
Season 6 (2027) is set to bring weapon customization for the two launch jets, which EA confirmed on Oct 21, 2026. The F/A-81F already has a customizable loadout. EA's Oct 1, 2026 look ahead also lists vehicle gameplay and a review of vehicle explosives among its 2027 focus areas, without dates. See Roadmap and Season 6.
We think the jets are where Battlefield 6's balance has swung most: fixed loadouts and strong cannons at launch, a cannon nerf in January, two new jets in August, then the Mobile AA buff in October. We expect the Season 6 customization to bring a jet-versus-ground counterweight such as lighter bombs for more flares, and we think the two-seaters will stay Carrier Strike and Wake Island specialists rather than replace the launch pair on land maps.
Frequently asked questions
How many jets are in Battlefield 6?
Four as of Nov 8, 2026: the Attack Jet (F-61V / F39-E), the Fighter Jet (F-97 Kestrel / Su-57), the F/A-81F and the F-74A Seacat.
Can you customize jets in Battlefield 6?
Not the launch jets: their loadouts are fixed by map and model. EA plans weapon customization for them in Season 6. The F/A-81F has a customizable loadout.
How do you repair a jet?
Fly over or land on your team's airstrip, which repairs and rearms you. Outside it, an aircraft only regains health slowly after a while without taking damage.
Why is my jet's pitch inverted?
It is inverted by default to copy a real flight stick. You can change it in the vehicle settings.
Where can I practice flying jets?
In Portal: host a training experience with bots and a password, or try EA's Ace Pursuit race.
