Roadmap and Season 6
As of Nov 8, 2026, EA has said Season 6 is planned, with jet weapon customization, and that a 2027 roadmap comes early in the new year; Platoons and the B-81 Cavalry were delayed to 2027 on Nov 6, Ranked multiplayer and Strikepoint have no date, and Commander Mode and a PC crossplay toggle are not planned.
As of Nov 8, 2026, Season 6 of Battlefield 6 is planned but not dated: on Oct 21, 2026 EA said Season 6 and support into 2027 are coming, with a year-ahead roadmap and the 2027 hardware "early in the new year", and named jet weapon customization as a Season 6 feature. Two weeks later the plan shifted: Platoons and the B-81 Cavalry, due Dec 8, were pushed to 2027, with a revised roadmap promised after the holidays. This page lists only what EA has said; our own guesses are on Predictions, and the season now running is Season 5.

What EA has said about Season 6
Three official statements frame it. On Jul 30, 2026 EA said Battlefield 6 and REDSEC continue after Season 5, with details "toward the end of the year". On Oct 1, in its look back at Year 1, it called Season 5 "the start of Year 2". On Oct 21 it confirmed Season 6 is planned, with balance passes, and that jet weapon customization is slated for it. The M9 pistol, one of the most requested weapons, falls under the 2027 hardware plans to be shared early in the new year. No date, name or map for Season 6 has been announced.
The 2027 focus areas
EA's Oct 1 post listed what it wants to improve in 2027, with no dates: vehicle gameplay, more depth in gunplay, a review of gadget and vehicle explosives, a better firing range, updated weapon visuals and animations, and a review of bolt-action sniper balance and counterplay. Several were already on EA's list in April, which jackfrags read out on Apr 16, 2026: vehicle gameplay, progression, footstep audio, menus, time to kill and limb damage, the attachment economy, soldier visibility and netcode. Several continue work already begun: the gunplay overhaul of Season 3, the vehicle damage model rebuilt that season, and the anti-air and helicopter changes of Season 5's first patch, which EA said on Oct 21 it was reviewing with "no quick knee-jerk adjustments".
Delayed to 2027: Platoons and the B-81 Cavalry
On Nov 6, 2026, the official Battlefield comms account said Platoons and the B-81 Cavalry, both due in Season 5's Frozen Aces phase on Dec 8, do "not meet our internal quality standards", and that a revised 2027 roadmap would follow after the holidays. The post, as creator USA Specialist read it out that day, adds that Frozen Aces still launches Dec 8 with a new operation, the Blackwell Fields and New Sobek City updates and the winter event. Platoons are clan-style groups of up to 100 players with custom names, squad tags, a main-menu tab, combined stats, an XP bonus for playing together and management through EA Connect. They had been promised for Season 5 since EA's Jun 4 update, and the 2026 roadmap of April had listed them beside the Server Browser and Proximity Chat. The B-81 Cavalry is a new vehicle.
The plan had looked full a month earlier. Reading EA's Season 5 roadmap on Oct 11, 2026, Enders listed Platoons and the Server Browser for Dec 8, alongside a new DMR, a karambit knife and the B-81 Cavalry, which he described as a B-1B-style bomber, and said such features should have been in the game from the start. The Server Browser went the other way and moved up to a staged rollout from Nov 10 (Portal and Server Browser).
Without a date: Ranked, Strikepoint, helicopters
As of EA's Oct 21 update, three things are still coming with no date: Multiplayer Ranked, the return of Strikepoint (held back by bugs) and new abilities for the Scout and Attack helicopters. In its Apr 16, 2026 roadmap video, Battlefield Studios said ranked play would start in REDSEC's Battle Royale Quads and later expand to other modes, Battlefield 6 multiplayer included. Ranked play exists today only in REDSEC's battle royale, which has had ranked seasons since Season 3. Strikepoint, the 4v4 one-life mode of Season 1, is described on Infantry Modes; the helicopters on Helicopters.
Not planned: Commander Mode and a PC crossplay toggle
In the same update EA said two long-requested features are not planned: Commander Mode, the top-down role of earlier Battlefield games, and an option for PC players to turn off crossplay with consoles. Crossplay as it works now is on Platforms and Crossplay.
Returning content
EA said on Jun 4, 2026 that Operation Augur, the two-map mode of Season 2, is planned to return in a future season, and that the campaign's Dagger 1-3 squad returns in seasons after Season 3 (Dagger 13 and Characters). Season 5 already repeats the idea of Augur with Operation High Roller on Dec 8.
What is not announced
As of Nov 8, 2026, no official source announces a campaign expansion or paid map DLC (EA's news page, checked that day), and no Switch 2 version; in August 2025 Vince Zampella said there were no plans for one. Battlefield has had one crossover so far, with Dead Space, and Kotaku reported that a planned Mass Effect collaboration was pulled from the store after BioWare's closure.
The 2026 roadmap, checked
EA's April 2026 roadmap is the best guide to how far to trust the next one. We checked each promise against what shipped by Nov 8, 2026:

| Railway to Golmud | Season 3 | Shipped May 12, 2026 |

What we think
When the April roadmap promised "a server browser with persistent servers", jackfrags called the wording ambiguous and asked for clarity. We think EA's roadmaps have been reliable for maps and unreliable for systems. Every map it promised in April shipped in the season named, while every social or competitive system (Proximity Chat, the Server Browser, Platoons, Multiplayer Ranked) slipped at least once or still has no date. So when the 2027 roadmap arrives, we would trust its maps and treat its features as hopes. Our dated guesses about Season 6 and the roadmap are on Predictions.

PredictionsWe think Battlefield 6's next remade map is Caspian Border from Battlefield 3, that Season 6 opens in Jan or Feb 2027 built around vehicles and the delayed B-81 Cavalry, and that EA supports the game through 2027 instead of announcing a successor.
-
Season 5Season 5, "Siege of Vegas", is Battlefield 6's current season, live since Oct 13, 2026. Phase 1 brought Vegas Strip and Area 51, Phase 2 Casino Heist adds the European Casino map on Nov 10, and Phase 3 Frozen Aces is announced for Dec 8, without the Platoons and B-81 Cavalry that EA delayed to 2027 on Nov 6.
-
Season 3Season 3 ran from May 12 to Jul 21, 2026 in three phases, Warlords: Supremacy, Blastpoint and High-Value Target, and brought back Railway to Golmud and Cairo Bazaar, Obliteration, Ranked and Solos battle royale in REDSEC, and a large gunplay overhaul.
-
Portal and Server BrowserBattlefield Portal is Battlefield 6's built-in sandbox for player-made modes, and from Season 5 Phase 2 (staged rollout after Nov 10, 2026) it sits behind a real server browser with Official, Player-Hosted, Verified and Custom servers. Verified servers give full XP; Custom ones give reduced XP.
-
Season 1Season 1 ran from Oct 28, 2025 to Feb 17, 2026, the longest season so far after a four-week extension. Its phases Rogue Ops, California Resistance and Winter Offensive added Blackwell Fields, Eastwood and Ice Lock Empire State, and it launched the free battle royale REDSEC and Battlefield 6's first cosmetics backlash.

Infantry ModesBattlefield 6's small infantry modes are Team Deathmatch (8v8, first to 100 kills), Squad Deathmatch (four squads of four, first to 50), Domination (8v8, first to 200 points), King of the Hill (8v8, one moving zone), the 4v4 one-life Strikepoint (out of rotation as of Nov 8, 2026) and the 8v8 Sabotage event mode.
