Cairo Bazaar

Cairo Bazaar is Battlefield 6's remake of Battlefield 3's Grand Bazaar, a mirrored close-quarters city block in Cairo added on Jun 9, 2026 with Season 3's Blastpoint phase. It keeps the old lanes and the Alley of Death, turns the center into a covered market, and lets you blow open walls for new routes.

Cairo Bazaar is Battlefield 3's Grand Bazaar rebuilt for Battlefield 6: one mirrored city block in Cairo, where a Pax Armata warlord has dug in and NATO comes to break the stronghold, added on Jun 9, 2026 with Season 3's Blastpoint phase. jackfrags, playing on the day it went live, found the layout "pretty much the same" with "a lot of flanking routes" added, and the rubble drops still there. It is a compact infantry-and-light-armor map, the opposite of Railway to Golmud from the same season. Facts are as of Nov 8, 2026.

Where it is and how it is laid out

Like the 2011 map, it is a square: a claustrophobic central lane inside an outer road patrolled by armored vehicles, as Nick930 described it in his EA-sponsored comparison. The blue tint of Battlefield 3 is gone, replaced by a late-afternoon, after-the-storm light, and so much of the decoration is destructible that by the end of a long match the market can be "stripped bare".

EA's developer map guide (Jun 2, 2026) splits it into four areas:

Area What it is
Faction HQs Pax Armata holds the main market, NATO the north; both got extra alleys and overhead cover on their one-way streets so they cannot be spawn-trapped, and vehicles stage on each main road out
Bazaar and Marketplace The center; it keeps the "Alley of Death" and the "big banana" lane, now an indoor bazaar with archways
Boulevard The western outer lane for vehicles, with new buildings, an overpass and a large destructible archway
Plaza and Checkpoint The northern extension, heavily ruined, with rubble piles and a burning hotel

Nick930 lists what changed. The center lane is now an enclosed tunnel with breakable skylights that drop rubble for cover; the curved side tunnel took the old open-air look instead. The corner objective's footbridge became a roundabout with a burned-out bus as the raised platform, and one side lane is now a helicopter crash site.

Points by mode

  • Conquest had its own Cairo Bazaar playlist at launch, with armored vehicles on the outer roads; jackfrags tried to C4 an enemy LAV on D (Conquest).
  • Team Deathmatch and Domination share one combat zone in the center (Infantry Modes).
  • Rush runs here; EA says the old open Boulevard "could be brutal" in it, which is why it got cover (Rush).
  • Obliteration returned in the same update, and EA's preview footage showed Tactical Obliteration on this map (Obliteration).
  • Breakthrough would not start for jackfrags on launch day; chat in his stream already called it broken there (Breakthrough).

Destruction

EA says destruction has "dramatically increased". Walls blow open into shortcuts that the designers call "release valves" for the chokepoints, rubble turns into cover and destroyed barricades widen choke points, so no two matches play alike. jackfrags went straight for the rubble drops and the banana lane and watched a building crumble around him while an IFV hunted him (Destruction).

Not everything opens. One area that was open in Battlefield 3, where you could drop more rubble, is now closed off, and the main flank beside it is the way through. During his match the rain stopped and later returned, which he took for dynamic weather; EA said in October 2026 that weather stays per map and no dynamic weather is planned.

Tips for each side

EA's top five, with what creators found:

  • Break on through. Explosives open your own path into C and the market (Engineer, Assault).
  • Sweep the alley with shotguns and SMGs around corners; the PP-19 and #00 Buck shells arrived in the same update (SMGs, Shotguns and Pistols).
  • Like fish in a barrel: long-range weapons own the north-south lanes and any new sightline you blast open.
  • Cruising down the street: in larger modes the IFVs and minesweeping decide the outer road.
  • Rusher's remorse: after you die, note where enemies were and plan the flank before you rush back.

It rewards squads that flank. jackfrags: "This is why people are going to love this map. It just gets crazy." He predicted Grand Bazaar 24/7 servers once the server browser arrived.

History: from Battlefield 3 to Battlefield 6

Grand Bazaar was one of the last Battlefield 3 launch maps to be finished, alongside Caspian Border, and EA calls it "classically mirrored", a very short-range map where shotguns ruled. Its level designer, Niklas Åstrand, added side alleys and cover around the points so infantry had safer routes past the Alley of Death. The Battlefield 6 version keeps that layout "in spirit and feeling", in EA's words.

It borrows art from Siege of Cairo, but jackfrags thought DICE had done a good job of keeping it from looking like the same map. Players spent over 5.7 million hours on it by Jul 2, 2026. It was the third remake after Operation Firestorm and Golmud; Wake Island followed in Season 4.

What we think

We think Cairo Bazaar is the best-tuned infantry map in Battlefield 6. Nick930 was surprised by how much fun Conquest is and how often a flank decision paid off, and that matches what made the 2011 map last. The covered center is the key change: skylights you can break mean the Alley of Death is no longer a pure grenade lane. We expect it to be among the most-hosted maps once the server browser arrives, as jackfrags guessed, and we would not be surprised to see a night or Hardcore variant in a later event.

Frequently asked questions

Is Cairo Bazaar the same as Grand Bazaar?

It is a remake of it. The mirrored layout, lanes and Alley of Death are kept; the center is now a covered market, the corners and side lanes are rebuilt, and much more can be destroyed.

When was Cairo Bazaar added?

On Jun 9, 2026, with Season 3's Blastpoint phase.

Does Cairo Bazaar have vehicles?

Yes, in larger modes: armored vehicles patrol the outer roads and stage on the main roads out of each HQ.

Is Cairo Bazaar the same map as Siege of Cairo?

No. Both are in Cairo and share art, but Siege of Cairo is a launch map with a different layout.

Which modes can I play on it?

Conquest, Rush, Team Deathmatch, Domination and Obliteration, among others; see Game Modes.
