Hagental Base

Hagental Base is Battlefield 6's underground, infantry-only map in Bavaria, added on Mar 17, 2026 with Season 2's Nightfall phase. It is a linear run of tunnels, server rooms and a hangar with five Conquest points, breakable walls and hidden flanks, and the second half of the Operation Augur mode.

Hagental Base is Battlefield 6's underground close-quarters map: an infantry-only underground base in Bavaria, inspired by Metro, Locker, Battlefield 3's Close Quarters maps and Hardline, added on Mar 17, 2026 with Season 2's Nightfall phase. jackfrags, playing it the day it went live, called the layout "very linear" with five capture points and "some flanks that you can make yourself". It sits under Contaminated, and the two maps join in the Operation Augur mode. Facts are as of Nov 8, 2026.

Quick facts

Setting Underground base under Hagental Airbase, Bavaria

Named areas Generators, Maintenance Area, Central Tunnel, Depot, Server, East and West Tunnels

Linked modes Nightfall, Operation Augur

Where it is and how it is laid out

The map is a straight run of underground halls. jackfrags walked it from end to end on day one: a red tunnel, server rooms and a depot, then a huge hangar where Pax Armata is building jets beside standing water. A long tunnel runs through the middle, with a smaller underground passage below the central objective that you can flank through but not capture from.

The middle point is "a big open cavernous space" with a jet parked in it. Hanging loads can be shot down onto people, and the jet explodes if you hit the wrong thing, which jackfrags learned by blowing himself up. A downed jet on the surface outside hints at the link with Contaminated above.

Walls marked with cracks hide whole rooms. Break them and a "secret flank" opens; jackfrags found several, plus rockfalls you can shoot down onto a lane and wall sections you can knock in to make a small cover nook. In EA's words for the Operation Augur guide, "this base's walls are brittle".

Sectors and points by mode

  • Conquest has five points along the tunnels, with each side's gimme flag at its end. jackfrags found A at the generators, a gimme flag with nooks to hide in (Conquest).
  • Breakthrough pushes through the same line. jackfrags expected every sector to be a "massive choke point" (Breakthrough).
  • Domination runs on a smaller version of the map; jackfrags played it in Nightfall (Infantry Modes).
  • Operation Augur, the April 2026 limited-time mode, ends here. EA's guide splits Hagental into four sectors (Limited-Time Modes):
Sector Objectives What EA says
Emergency Generators A outside the HQ, B in the Maintenance Area Vehicles are disabled in the tunnel; the West Tunnel runs under both objectives; long hallways and catwalks suit longer optics
Central Tunnel One, in no-man's land mid-tunnel Flank by the West Tunnel or breach side halls; defenders fire down the tunnel from the south
Depot One, on the catwalks Flanks through the East Tunnel and small southern tunnels; long-range weapons early, shorter range once walls are open
Server A at the end of the East Tunnel, B in the server room Attackers blow walls and close in; defenders hold the rooms south of A and west of B with incendiaries

Nightfall

The map arrived with Nightfall, a limited-time mode with low visibility and free night vision goggles for everyone. jackfrags played it as 16-player Domination on a small version of the map and wished it had come to Conquest.

Light is the weapon. EA warns that goggles are blinded by overhead lights and enemy flashlights, and jackfrags found that an enemy with a flashlight on is invisible through NVGs, while a player with goggles can lurk in pitch-black corners. REDSEC's Gauntlet also had a Nightfall mission on this map.

Destruction and easter eggs

Beyond the breakable walls, the base is full of valves you can shoot off, which jackfrags was sure were an easter egg. He also found a banana on a table and recalled that one of DICE's level designers hides a banana in the maps he makes. See Destruction.

Tips for each side

  • Make your own door. The cracked walls open flanks the enemy may not watch; an Engineer or Assault with explosives, or a sledgehammer, is worth bringing (Engineer, Assault).
  • Expect grenades. jackfrags compared it to Metro and Locker within minutes and said "It's all about spamming grenades." Carry smoke to revive and to cross the central tunnel (Support).
  • Carry two loadouts in Operation Augur: one for Contaminated's hills, one for the tunnels, as EA advises.
  • Attack the Server sector close: shotguns and SMGs after the walls come down (SMGs, Shotguns and Pistols).
  • In Nightfall, use a flashlight against goggle wearers and stay in the dark when you wear them.

Patches

Hotfix 1.3.1.5 on May 26, 2026 fixed Hagental Base exploits along with Golmud spawns. Operation Augur returns regularly in the featured rotation (Jul 30, 2026).

What we think

We think Hagental Base is the map Battlefield 6's infantry players asked for and its vehicle players will never love: EA built a Metro or Locker for this game, and jackfrags was calling it the XP grind map within minutes. Its real strength is Operation Augur, where it ends a two-map push and the sectors finally make narrative sense. We expect Augur to come back as a permanent playlist, and Hagental to become the default map for night and Hardcore Portal servers.

Frequently asked questions

Does Hagental Base have vehicles?

No. It is infantry-only, and EA's Augur guide notes that vehicles are disabled inside the tunnel.

When was Hagental Base added?

On Mar 17, 2026, with Season 2's Nightfall phase.

How many capture points does Hagental Base have?

Five in Conquest, in a line from one gimme flag to the other.

How is Hagental Base connected to Contaminated?

It lies under the airbase of Contaminated. Operation Augur starts on Contaminated and finishes in Hagental's four sectors.

Which old maps is Hagental Base like?

EA names Metro, Locker, Battlefield 3's Close Quarters maps and Hardline as its inspirations.
