Liberation Peak

Liberation Peak is a Battlefield 6 launch map on a mountainside in Tajikistan, with six Conquest objectives, jets, helicopters and tanks. Its hilltops made it the game's best-known sniper map, and its Breakthrough was reworked in Dec 2025.

Liberation Peak is a Battlefield 6 launch map set on Tajikistan's "glorious mountainside", whose rocky terrain gives cover to jets and helicopters in dogfights while infantry and tanks fight for the high ground. Its Conquest Combat Zone is Ridge 13. It is also the map players joke about: IGN's multiplayer review (Oct 16, 2025) said it "has already become a well-deserved meme in the community because of how One Hill is always filled with snipers". It was one of the three maps of the first open beta weekend in Aug 2025.

Layout and objectives

AltoidBricks' guide (Dec 13, 2025) describes a very open map with six objectives, a lot of high ground, rotations of varying length and little cover, where spawn beacons, drones, rockets, mines and C4 all pay off, so every class has a role. He gives neither side the advantage, though he finds attacking easier from the A side.

GravityBFTV's beta analysis (Aug 18, 2025) found the six objectives repetitive: four military outposts (B, C, E and F) that blend together, the village at D, which he rates the best point for its buildings, destruction and protected spawns, and A, an ambush site with tank wreckage and a single house far to the west by the NATO deployment.

C is the most hectic point, because of its high ground and closeness to every other objective. Capturing B or E gives a team a tank, so the roads through D between them are the best place for mines. The map is narrow, so rotations often run straight into the enemy, and close-range guns do well.

The sniper problem

In the beta, the hill at C, the command post hill at F and the central peak became sniper nests, which GravityBFTV tied to the high muzzle velocity of sniper rifles and the "sweet spot" damage mechanic, recreating the problems of some Battlefield 1 maps. See DMRs and Sniper Rifles and Recon.

The height also reaches the air. From the central pass, players could target jets and helicopters as they left either deployment, nothing blocked the line of sight on the NATO side, and C overlooked the vehicle depot at E so well that the tank there could be rocketed before it moved.

In GravityBFTV's later review of all the launch maps (Feb 8, 2026), Liberation Peak "also has issues with mountain ledges still being accessible even after the updates to the map post beta".

IGN's reviewer, asked what he wanted fixed, named Liberation Peak first, suggesting out-of-bounds areas in the spots where snipers hide. EA has not published a sniper-specific change for the map in the notes we checked (through Nov 8, 2026).

Balance between the sides

GravityBFTV argued in the beta that the layout favors NATO. A is so far west it is rarely contested, while F, the fortified command post by Pax Armata's deployment, is hard to retake once lost and, in NATO's hands, sees down into the Pax deployment. Even C alone lets NATO stop infantry pushes from E and F and every armored push toward D. AltoidBricks, playing after launch, gave neither side the advantage.

Vehicles

The beta layout had attack helicopters and jets, an IFV at each deployment, tanks at the B and E flags, a mobile AA at D and static AA guns near B, D and E. GravityBFTV thought jets need more room than the map gives and that flag tanks hand the team already winning even more armor. He suggested a transport helicopter instead of jets and tanks at the deployments. See Jets, Helicopters and Tanks and Ground Vehicles.

Breakthrough and Rush

The open beta's Breakthrough on Liberation Peak drew the loudest complaints. The Escapist called it "an unfair meat grinder for attackers" (Aug 13, 2025): attackers climb into an open valley against defenders on the southern slope and a settlement.

GravityBFTV found the first sector one of the most frustrating in recent memory because of the empty slopes, sectors 2 to 4 much better in the village, and the hilltop command post after them almost impossible to take.

EA's answer came in update 1.1.3.0 (Dec 5, 2025): in Breakthrough, sector 3 lost its defender tank, sector 5 gave attackers two IFVs and took away the defenders' transport, and capture areas grew. The same update moved Rush M-COMs on Liberation Peak and Manhattan Bridge "to improve attacker flow". Breakthrough there has run with 48 players since mid-Nov 2025.

Tips

The opening is always the same. The A side takes A, then B, then pushes C and D with B's tank. The F side takes F, then E, then C and D with E's tank. Hold four objectives to keep the lead (most smaller maps have five in all, so six spreads you thin), and put C before D.

The high ground is C, F and the hill in the center. Snipers wedge themselves into the rocks behind C, and good ones are hard to dig out. A Recon drone finds them and their beacons.

Do not chase campers. If the enemy sits on the hill at C and your counterattack fails, take every other objective instead: "They will have to leave their hill if they want to win."

  • Engineer: repair your tanks, mine around D and hunt armor and aircraft. See Engineer.
  • Support: cover and ammo for snipers and Engineers, smoke for pushes; an LMG with a thermal sight finds campers. See Support.
  • Assault: beacons near objectives and high ground; a DMR with a thermal scope as secondary. See Assault.

Why some players still like it

For all the complaints, Xenoseth's breakdown of Battlefield 6's map design (Jan 30, 2026) called Liberation Peak "currently the most Battlefield-like map in the game": the one launch map whose shape and flow break from the round, symmetrical arena he sees everywhere else. GravityBFTV adds that, as the only vehicle-heavy beta map, it draws players who want to fly or tank on open ground.

What we think

We think Liberation Peak is the launch map most improved by patches and least improved in reputation: the Dec 2025 Breakthrough changes fixed the worst of the attackers' climb, but "sniper hill" stuck. We think the next fix EA makes will be out-of-bounds or cover changes on the rocks behind C, the cheapest way to break up the nests, and we expect it to get a rework of the kind New Sobek City is getting if that one lands well.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Liberation Peak called a sniper map?

Its open slopes and hills (the C hill, the F command post and the central peak) give long sightlines over most objectives, and snipers gather there. IGN called the sniper-filled hill a community meme.

How many objectives does Liberation Peak have in Conquest?

Six, A to F, one more than most launch maps.

Did EA change Liberation Peak?

Yes. Update 1.1.3.0 (Dec 5, 2025) changed Breakthrough vehicles and capture areas and moved Rush M-COMs. Breakthrough runs with 48 players since mid-Nov 2025.

Which side is better on Liberation Peak?

In the beta GravityBFTV thought NATO; after launch AltoidBricks found neither. Holding C matters more than the side.
