Maps

Battlefield 6 has 19 multiplayer maps as of Nov 8, 2026, nine from launch and ten added across five seasons, with European Casino due as the 20th on Nov 10, 2026. The largest are Tsuru Reef and Railway to Golmud; the smallest is Saints Quarter.

Battlefield 6 has 19 multiplayer maps as of Nov 8, 2026: the nine it launched with on Oct 10, 2025, in five "theaters of war" holding 25 Combat Zones, and ten added since, from Blackwell Fields in Season 1 to Vegas Strip and Area 51 in Season 5. The 20th, the infantry-focused European Casino, arrives on Nov 10, 2026. EA's own maps page lists 18 (read Nov 8, 2026) because it leaves out the underground Hagental Base. IGN's review (Oct 16, 2025) found the launch nine "generally strong", from the crowded streets of Saints Quarter to the vehicle-filled Operation Firestorm. REDSEC's battle royale map, Fort Lyndon, is separate and not in multiplayer.

Vehicle columns for the launch maps follow EA's descriptions and creators' counts on each map page; counts change by mode.

Each map also has its own cuts for different modes, so the same map plays differently in Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush, Escalation or the Infantry Modes. Game Modes lists which mode runs where.

The five launch theaters

The launch maps come in pairs that share a city and its art: Cairo (Siege of Cairo, New Sobek City), Gibraltar (Iberian Offensive, Saints Quarter), Tajikistan (Mirak Valley, Liberation Peak) and Brooklyn (Manhattan Bridge, Empire State), with Operation Firestorm alone in the Legacy theater. GravityBFTV's review of every launch map (Feb 8, 2026) explains the trade: reusing one location twice let the studio put far more detail into each map, in buildings, interiors and props, than older Battlefield maps had. The theaters also match the Campaign Missions, which fight through Gibraltar, Cairo, Brooklyn and Tajikistan.

Five of the nine launch maps are urban, close-quarters maps, which players had long asked for. His criticism is that they play too alike: few vehicles (at most an attack helicopter on Manhattan Bridge), the same scale, and quick burnout.

Why some players call the maps too small

Scale was the loudest complaint at launch. GravityBFTV measured several maps against older ones: Cairo close to Battlefield 3's Seine Crossing, Iberian Offensive to Grand Bazaar, Mirak Valley to Hainan Resort. There was no Kharg Island, Dawnbreaker or Karkand equivalent to vary the pool, and the headquarters sit close to the action.

That closeness has knock-on effects. On Operation Firestorm, Liberation Peak, New Sobek City, Eastwood and Blackwell Fields, players can fire into and out of the headquarters, helicopters die as they take off, and tanks are destroyed before they reach the fight.

Xenoseth's breakdown (Jan 30, 2026) goes further: almost every map follows one formula, a large, mostly flat area with buildings, capture points spread evenly, both teams arriving in the middle within 30 to 60 seconds.

He draws it as a circle, with one exception: Liberation Peak.

His explanation: older maps were slow to cross on foot, and instead of solving that with more transport vehicles, the designers flattened the terrain and shrank the maps.

How EA responded: bigger maps and reworks

EA's post-launch maps answer much of that. Railway to Golmud (May 12, 2026) is four times the size of Mirak Valley, and EA said it drew over 16 million hours played by Jul 2, 2026, about 2.5 times Contaminated (Jul 15, 2026). Tsuru Reef followed as the biggest yet, built for Naval Warfare, and Wake Island brought back a classic. EA also changed launch maps: update 1.1.3.0 (Dec 5, 2025) rebalanced Breakthrough vehicles or capture areas on Mirak Valley, Liberation Peak, Manhattan Bridge, New Sobek City, Siege of Cairo and Empire State and stopped rooftop captures on Manhattan Bridge. Two launch-window maps get full reworks on Dec 8, 2026, New Sobek City and Blackwell Fields, with "more separation between HQs" and more flanking room.

GravityBFTV ended his review hopeful for exactly this: fixes "will happen in time", and Golmud's return would fill the large-map niche.

What the maps do well

Objectives are better built than in older games: well defined, full of cover, with buildings around them and far fewer flags in an open crater, even if too many are basketball courts, intersections and construction sites.

Detail is the big step forward. Furnished interiors, small destructible objects, street vehicles and rubble make the maps believable and break up sightlines, in contrast to Battlefield 2042's empty spaces, which GravityBFTV calls the game's "greatest innovation" in map design. See Destruction for what can be knocked down.

Set-piece destruction

Battlefield 6 launched with little Levolution-style spectacle: Mirak Valley's falling crane was the main one. Season 5 brought scripted collapses back: Vegas Strip's casino sign and Olympus dome, Area 51's control tower, and, from Nov 10, European Casino's central tower of over 120 meters, which can be brought down.

Weather, night and variants

EA says weather "remains on a per-map basis", with any new weather coming through events or a map's own biome; there is no dynamic weather. Variants have come through Limited-Time Modes instead: Ice Lock Empire State's freezing cold in Dec 2025, VL-7 Strike's hallucinogenic smoke on Contaminated, Nightfall's darkness and Operation Augur, which chains Contaminated and Hagental Base. Portal and Server Browser also offers a flat Portal Sandbox built from Siege of Cairo's desert.

What we think

We think the launch maps were better made than they were chosen: almost every one is detailed and well built, but nine maps with five urban fights and no truly large one gave the "too small" complaint all the room it needed. We think EA's best decision since launch was to answer with size (Railway to Golmud, Tsuru Reef) rather than more remakes alone, and we expect the 2027 roadmap to include at least one more large map before any more infantry-only ones. We also think Hagental Base's absence from EA's own maps page is an oversight worth fixing. Our full calls are on Predictions.
